Losing both my parents taught me how heavy solitude can feel when life breaks you.
Mum's disappearance and the long search broke something in all of us. Dad, Frank Jenkins, a veteran who had spent his life quietly turning up for others, never recovered. The lively man I grew up with simply faded. He passed away with the kind of broken heart people usually only talk about in stories. Watching him go through that pain, largely on his own, stayed with me.
As a veteran myself, I later walked through the DVA claims process and saw how complex and demanding it can be. It reinforced what I had already learned through my family's journey: having someone steady in your corner makes all the difference.
That's why I started Outpost Advocacy with another veteran who understood the journey firsthand. We built it in loving memory of my dad and every service member who has ever felt the weight of navigating veteran affairs.
